It’s been 3 days, and if I’ve realized anything about myself so far, it’s that I absolutely HATE looking like a tourist. I’m very much annoyed by it. I don’t want to be known as the “Americana”. At this point, I’ve come to the decision that I will do everything I can, to pass off as a Spaniard, look, act and think like an Espanola, or at least not be so “touristy”. Though I can’t always escape the tourist image, if I ever want to take pictures of the City, I’ve decided to allow myself a few days to just be that. Today was the start of the most beautiful days of the year (It had been raining my first 2 days here). It was sunny and I’d say somewhere in the 60s, so I wanted to walk around the small plaza near my home and take photos, but being cursed with the always curious and easily distracted mind of mine, I walked a little too far and straight towards the brightly lit, and busiest street in Madrid, La Gran Via! It’s my favorite street in Madrid, full of clothing stores, souvenir shops, live music, and theaters. I had worked my way backwards and turned around once I realized how late it was, but I knew, I’d be back tomorrow.
